Who Makes Duromax Generator Engines? (2023 Update)

In today’s global marketplace many of us are considering where our products come from.  Can we trust that the products and components we buy are American made? There is a company that stands by its claim to be made here in the USA.  We’ve chosen Duromax as one of our 5 best portable generator brands – and for good reason.

The line of Duromax generators, engines, water pumps, and pressure washers are engineered and serviced in Ontario, California.

DuroPower™, an engine and power tools maker, owns the Duromax line of generators.  They manufacture their engines and component parts.  Duromax offers 20 different generator models with two designs for single, triple and four-cylinder engines.

The Duromax generator line offers gas-powered, propane-powered and an innovative dual fuel (hybrid) model as part of their line-up.  The Duromax brand has rated high marks for reliability and affordability.

The Duromax company has only been in existence since 2003, but DuroPower™ has been making engines, power tools, and component parts since 1989.   What does this mean for Duromax generator owners?  The company has decades of experience that they put to good use when they created the Duromax generator!

What has made DuroPower™ stand out from the crowd?  They design, engineer, and assemble their own engines and do not rely on imported parts.  The company also specializes in designing and building a variety of generators for both residential and commercial use.

DuroPower™ produces Duromax generators in 20 different models to fit both home and office environments.

A DuroPower™ innovation has been the DuroMax Dual Fuel technology.  This allows the freedom of operating your generator on gasoline or liquid propane. Compared to gasoline, liquid propane is fuel efficient, less expensive and has a longer storage life.

The Duromax hybrid generators provide the best length of operating time, as well.  Their hybrid generators operate on propane an average of 20 hours versus only eight hours on gasoline. The option to buy a dual fuel generator creates a long-term cost savings, as well.

This means that Duromax provides an affordable, reliable, and flexible solution to your electrical needs.

A quality that every Duromax generator has – the difference between it and other generators on the market – is how well it is built.  Every Duromax is built with cast-iron sleeves that always keep the engine well-protected, even when the generator isn’t running.  The cast-iron sleeve design helps protect the engine from rough handling, bumps, and scrapes.

California is one of the states that require new generators to meet air quality standards established by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) certifications.  Duromax generators are designed to meet the standards set out by the ETL (extract, transform, load) and the MTL (materials testing laboratory) guidelines, as well.  As a California manufacturer, the Duromax generators hold a place as one of the safest options as these standards are met.

Have you ever stressed about getting replacement parts to repair your generator?  You can rest assured knowing that replacement parts will come directly from the California plant.

All component parts are engineered and manufactured in one of the California DuroPower™ plants.

If safety, construction, and value are not enough to make you look at a Duromax, consider this.  Duromax offers features that other generator manufacturers do not.

Safety is number one.  Not only is Duromax a good overall generator choice, but they also ensure your safety while the generator is running. Check out these key features.

  • Low Oil Warning System: No one wants to burn up an engine because the oil has run low.  This feature notifies you when the oil level in the generator is running low with a visual display.  It then saves you by shutting the generator off once the minimum oil level is reached.  After the oil level is topped off, the generator will automatically start again and resume powering your needs.
  • Electrical Overload Breaker: The last thing you want is an overload to your electrical system.  This can happen when the wattage of the generator is too much for your system. It is important to match your power needs to your generator, and easy to accidentally purchase a generator that’s too powerful for your property.  Too much power can result in overloading.  With the built-in electrical overload breaker, you are protected.
  • Super-Quiet Muffler:Generators are known to be loud, noisy machines.  Running one in a neighborhood can cause a disturbance to you and your neighbors. Duromax has designed an innovative super-quiet muffler to make noise issues go away!  The decibels of output are only slightly more than a normal conversation.

In addition to the Duromax generator, DuroPower™ also owns the Durostar brand.

DuroStar generators are efficiently designed to provide affordable electrical power.  While a sister product of Duromax with many similar models of generators, hybrid or inverter models are not among the Durostar line.

The Durostar brand offers reliable and affordable generators with power outputs ranging from 1,050 watts to 10,000 watts and are designed to be rugged and portable.

The Durostar generator offers multiple uses:

  • emergency back-up power to homes,
  • powering farm equipment or tools at worksites,
  • powering campers and RVs,
  • tailgating or other outdoor uses.

The larger models come with tube steel frames, wheel kits and handles for enhanced portability. Durostar does not manufacture either standby or inverter generators.  Like the Duromax, the Durostar generators come with many features.

  • a proprietary muffler to reduce engine sound,
  • fully independent motor mounts that reduce generator noise,
  • an easy-to-read power panel for ease of operation and monitoring,
  • advanced oil caution light that alerts you when the oil level gets too low,
  • low oil shut-off sensor to help protect the engine,
  • several power-plug options for ease of connection

This makes DuroStar generators some of the best deals in the market.
